A Summer Engagement at the Art Institute of Chicago & North Avenue Beach- Emily & Kevin

Some stories feel like they were always meant to happen.

Even though Emily & Kevin both attended Marquette University and shared mutual friends, it wasn’t until they met online that everything finally fell into place. Their first date? Coffee and a walk through a forest preserve… which Emily’s friends lovingly described as a “psycho” first date. But it clearly worked.

Not long after they started dating, Kevin’s job moved him to Washington, D.C., leading to a year of long distance. Instead of pulling them apart, it brought them even closer as they built a relationship rooted in conversation, trust, and intentional time together. Today, they’re back under the same roof, making a home together and counting down the days until “I do.”

Kevin proposed during one of their favorite walks at Lake Como inside The Morton Arboretum, keeping the moment quiet, personal, and exactly what Emily had always hoped for before surprising her with family and friends to celebrate.

For their engagement session, we wandered through the beautiful architecture of the Art Institute of Chicago before making our way to North Avenue Beach. Between the iconic city views, the lakefront, and so many genuine laughs, it was the perfect way to celebrate this season of their story.

Emily & Kevin, thank you so much for inviting me into this season of your lives. I already know your wedding day is going to be something so special.
