RWP Info: What is an Open Air Photo Booth?

If you’ve checked out any of our Wedding Collections, you may have noticed an “Open Air Photo Booth” included in a number of them. You’re may be thinking, “what is it?” in fact, this is one of the questions answer almost more than anything, so I thought I would put together this post so all the details would be in one place.

First, the OAPB is something we’ve offered from the beginning, so in keeping with that tradition, we continue to offer it to our Clients as a fun bonus. It’s something kids always love using and guest really enjoy when they need a break from the dance floor. In our experience the photos usually get… goofier and goofier as the night goes on.

While most couples choose to take advantage of the OAPB, some choose not to and that’s okay. It’s a fun bonus we like to offer our Wedding Clients.

The Open Air Photo Booth is just as it sounds, it’s open instead of an enclosure. The benefit of this is that instead of having guests crammed into a tiny space with five floating heads in a photo, you have a large white backdrop for guests be loud!

We open the OAPB as soon as open dance starts. This way your guests get to use it right away and it doesn’t take away from things like toasts and the cake cutting.

Unlike most enclosures, the OAPB is run by your Second Shoot. This way each photo can be composed in a fun way and you know everyone is in the frame. It’s also fun for our Seconds, they get to razz your guests and get some really funny photos for you.

For the OAPB we bring the backdrop, lighting, fun props and a table so that we have everything we need before we get there.

There are a few ways for your guests to get their photos. Some Clients choose to add printing which is always an awesome option. When you add printing, your guests take three consecutive photos and get to leave that night with their photo strips customized to your wedding. It’s an unique guest gift and guests usually come to the OAPB a number of times. No matter what you decide on the printing, once all your wedding photos have been finished up, your OAPB photos will go with the rest of them in your online gallery and on your final CD. The cool thing is that if guest’s pre-register to your online gallery, they get a $5.00 Photo Credit which they can use on their OAPB photo if they want!

The OAPB is something we love getting to bring with us to weddings! We get to take fun shots of your guests and you get to enjoy these goofy photos once you’re home from your honeymoon.
