And we’re back!
If you’ve been following along, you know last week we jumped into a new series featuring a few of our favorite Vendors. Favorites not only because of their beautiful work, but also because of the way these Professionals care about their couples and their unique wedding days. : )
Today we’re continuing through this Vendor series and featuring Carousel Flowers by Shamrock Garden Florist! In this post you’ll find Q&A with Kyle from Carousel Flowers and a review from Watson Bride Natalie who just got married January 2024. : )
While there are so many things I love about Carousel Flowers, I think my favorite part of Carousel Flowers is that it’s a 3 generation family business! Kyle and his family have been serving couples for over 40 years and they’re truly experts who create stunning florals. : )
I hope you enjoy this post and make sure to share this resource with your friends who are recently engaged. : )
Q: When did your family first start their floral shop and what do you love most about working with Brides today?
A: Carousel Flowers is the Elmhurst branch of Shamrock Garden Florist which was acquired by my Mother and Grandmother nearly 40 years ago. Now, having grown to 3 locations in Lombard, Elmhurst and Winfield, it has truly become a family operation with my mother, my wife and 2 of my brothers all working together to run our various locations. We are a full-service floral shop, meaning we do anything floral related (not just weddings), but providing wedding floral is certainly a large part of what we do! With nearly 4 decades of wedding floral experience, taking our brides’ vision for their big day and offering our expertise of what works and what doesn’t or what will be noticed and what won’t to capture the look they want while respecting their budget is truly the most gratifying part of what we do when working with Brides.
Q: Do you have any other services that you offer?
A: When some brides consider a wedding florist, the main thought is regarding their typical wedding floral such as Bouquets, Boutonnieres, Corsages and Basic floral centerpieces. However, we also have an extensive inventory of ceremony arches, pillars, vases, candle holders and other rental items that we have available for our brides to rent to accompany our floral and to complete any ceremony and reception aesthetic. Of course, we are happy to work with glassware that our brides may provide, but for those who don’t want the trouble of sourcing their own glassware/candles and would prefer to rent, we are a one-stop-shop!
Q: What sets Shamrock Garden / Carousel Flowers apart from other companies out there?
A: No two flower shops are alike. Each one will have a different design style, variable pricing, different offerings and most importantly varying levels of expertise and experience with capturing the floral themes that potential brides may be looking for. Providing wedding floral for nearly 40 years means there isn’t a venue that we haven’t worked with and are able to offer suggestions on how to best decorate them. Plus, having multiple designers at each location with varying styles of design means we can re-create any wedding theme from lush and glamorous to a more organic garden style. We welcome weddings of all shapes and sizes and do not, nor have we ever had a minimum for our weddings. Regardless of the size of the wedding, our extensive offerings and expertise make us a great place to start the floral vendor search!
Q: What are a few of your favorite blooms?
A: There are so many beautiful flowers that we use for weddings, but when I consider my favorites, there is nothing particularly unusual or exotic about them. I tend to gravitate toward the varieties of floral that I know will come in consistently beautiful year-round and that are available in a multitude of colors that can be customized for any potential bride. These go-to blooms for me consist of Roses, Spray Roses, Hydrangea, Ranunculus and Lisianthus.
Q: Do you have a favorite memory from a recent wedding?
A: We recently had the privilege of providing wedding floral for a client whose wedding ceremony and reception was at The Rookery downtown Chicago. Having a hand in transforming a beautiful and historic venue for a wedding is memorable in and of itself, but to do it for a wedding that required all-hands on deck to define the ceremony space, and then to take it all down in one frenzied 60-minute room flip to create a breathtaking and candle-lit reception, certainly made for a memorable wedding set-up for me.
“Kyle and his team were amazing! We met with them and they were one of the few flower shops that actually showed us real flowers at our first meeting! They were a dream to work with and I felt like they really listened to what we wanted and created my vision. We were able to pick every flower in the arrangements and were able to get all the flowers exactly as we wanted and within our budget! We were so impressed with them we used them for our wedding shower as well! I have already recommended them to friends and family in the area. We will be using them and recommending them for years to come!”
