What should I do with my engagement ring before my ceremony?
This is a question that comes up pretty often on a wedding day and usually RIGHT before the ceremony! The good news, is you have options and there is no wrong way to do it. : )
But first, you may be wondering, WHY this question comes up?
Let me back up…
Traditionally, your wedding band will go closest to your heart. In other words, when you put on your rings, you put your wedding band on first, then your engagement ring!
If you’re already wearing your engagement ring, the rings won’t be in the “right order.”
With that in mind, here are three ideas for what you can do with your engagement ring before your wedding ceremony…
#1. Switch your engagement ring over to your right hand for the ceremony.
This way, when you two exchange rings, your wedding band goes on and you can move your engagement band after your wedding ceremony.
#2. Leave your engagement ring on your left hand and shift your rings after your wedding ceremony.
The nice thing about this option is that you know exactly which hand the ring goes on naturally because you’re already used to having your engagement ring on your left hand. : )
#3. Let your Husband to be put on both rings!
This does assume you trust the best man A LOT, but totally an option and I feel like your Best Man will THRIVE with the extra responsibility.
In the end, whichever option you choose, on purpose or on accident, will totally work!
I hope this post was helpful to you! If you have a question you would like to see answered here, let me know! I always love hearing from you.
Much Love,
