Some wedding days stay with you long after the last song fades and the lights come up. Emily and Shane’s wedding day was one of those. From meaningful milestones to deeply personal moments and a little January snow magic, their day at Riverside Receptions was layered with intention, love, and quiet joy. Cassie captured it all so beautifully, and these moments tell the story best.
Here are a few of Cassie’s absolute favorite moments from the day!
#3 – Once-in-a-Lifetime Anniversary
Emily and Shane didn’t just choose a meaningful wedding date — they chose the date. They were married 10 years and 10 days after they started dating, which feels like the most perfect full-circle moment. What better way to celebrate a decade of love than by saying “I do,” surrounded by your favorite people, and stepping into the next chapter together? It was such a beautiful reminder that this day wasn’t just about a wedding — it was about honoring ten years of shared life, growth, and commitment.
#2 – A Ceremony Led by Family
One of the most emotional moments of the day was the ceremony itself — officiated by Emily’s brother, Brian. It was incredibly personal and heartfelt, with just the right mix of humor and emotion. Brian had everyone laughing, tearing up, and completely locked in from start to finish. He shared stories from Emily’s childhood, memories of getting to know Shane, and his perspective on who they are as a couple. Emily and Shane chose to share their vows privately (which he jokingly called a bummer for the rest of us), but in many ways, Brian spoke vows for them — words that so beautifully reflected their love, their journey, and the life they’re building together. It was intimate, meaningful, and truly unforgettable.
#1 – Snow, Snow, and More Snow!
A January wedding always comes with one big hope: snow. And Emily and Shane got their wish. While it was very cold (like… truly cold), the snowfall was absolutely magical. Snow drifting down, twinkle lights glowing, and the quiet romance of the courtyard at Riverside Receptions made for the dreamiest ending to the night. Those snowy evening portraits — with the lights, the flakes, and the two of them wrapped up together — are hands-down some of my favorite images from the entire day. Pure winter wedding magic.
Bonus – A Personal Favorite Cassie Will Never Forget
And one extra moment that I have to share — Saturday happened to be my son Jackson’s 9th birthday, and as fate would have it, I got to celebrate it with Emily and Shane. When I arrived during getting ready, Emily surprised me with the sweetest gift: a slice of birthday confetti cake for Jackson, wrapped up and ready for me to bring home. On her wedding day, she thought of my little boy. That simple, thoughtful gesture meant more to me than she’ll ever know — and it made Jackson’s night when I got home. Thank you, Emily, for your kindness and heart. Our Watson brides truly are something special.
Emily & Shane, thank you so much for trusting Cassie and the RWP Team with your wedding day. It was an honor to be part of such a meaningful celebration and to witness the love you’ve built over the last ten years. We are so grateful to have been there.
