A Spring Engagement at The Art Institute of Chicago- Aila & Patrick

Some engagement sessions just feel extra special, and Aila & Patrick’s session in downtown Chicago was exactly that.

I first met Aila years ago while serving in the high school ministry at church, so getting to reconnect with her in this new season of life has been incredibly sweet. It’s been so fun meeting Patrick, hearing their story, and seeing the beautiful ways God has been working in their lives.

For their engagement session, we explored the Art Institute of Chicago, which was such a treat because it was actually my first time photographing there! Between the stunning architecture, iconic staircases, and the energy of the city, it was the perfect backdrop for these two.

Their story started through mutual friends from Iowa State, but Aila gets full credit for making the first move. She slid into Patrick’s DMs (girl power!) and before long they were headed out on their first date at The Gwen rooftop in Chicago. After that night, the rest was history.

Patrick’s proposal was just as thoughtful. He planned everything on a friend’s apartment rooftop in the city with music, flowers, and all of Aila’s closest friends got involved in help bringing his vision to life. The best part, family and friends were there to celebrate just after the proposal. : )

Aila & Patrick, thank you for trusting me with this season. It means so much after all these years to reconnect and capture this milestone for you both.
