A Spring Engagement at Cantigny- Katie & Nabil

Spring at Cantigny Park always feels a little magical, but Katie and Nabil’s engagement session was extra special. Not only did I finally get to photograph in a tucked-away Cantigny location I’ve dreamed of using for years, but these two made it absolutely unforgettable. Their joy, their connection, and the way they so effortlessly fit together made this one of my favorite Cantigny sessions to date. : )

Katie and Nabil’s story began thanks to a modern twist of fate, mutual connections, a little military friendship, and one unexpected FaceTime call. While living states apart, what started as a simple introduction quickly turned into hours-long conversations, daily calls, and a connection neither of them could ignore. After talking for months, Nabil made the ultimate birthday surprise, driving over seven hours from Chicago to finally meet Katie in person. From there, everything clicked.

Their love story is one built on commitment, long-distance perseverance, and choosing each other again and again. After three and a half years of long distance, Katie made the big move to Illinois, and together they built a beautiful life here.

When it came time to propose, Nabil planned the sweetest winter surprise at Gallery Park, right before a Blackhawks game. Despite freezing temperatures, he got down on one knee by the fountain, catching Katie completely off guard before family joined in to celebrate one of the biggest moments of their lives.
