There are some wedding days that feel a little like a reunion, and Diana & Jacob’s wedding was exactly that.
Because this was our second Micklin family wedding, one of my favorite parts of the day was seeing so many familiar faces again while also getting to meet new family and friends who were there to celebrate alongside them. From the moment I arrived, the day felt full of warmth, joy, and the kind of excitement that only comes when two families gather together for something truly special.
There were so many memorable moments throughout the day. I loved meeting Diana’s grandparents who traveled all the way from Poland to celebrate with them. Guests gathered around the beautiful wiejski stół filled with delicious savory appetizers throughout the evening. During bridal party photos, we even got to witness a surprise proposal happening nearby. And watching the flower girls proudly pave the way for Diana as she walked down the aisle was absolutely adorable.
While there were so many moments I could share, here are three that stand out the most:
#3. A Pizza Stop at Wooden Paddle
With a little time between the ceremony and reception, Diana & Jacob decided to make a quick stop at Wooden Paddle with their bridal party.
Honestly, it was the perfect choice.
The group enjoyed pizza, drinks, and a chance to relax together before diving into portraits and the evening festivities. It was such a fun way to slow down, soak in the day, and spend time with their favorite people before the celebration continued.
#2. Their First Dance
Diana & Jacob’s first dance was absolutely stunning.
As they stepped onto the dance floor, cold sparkers lit up the room while a dancing-on-a-cloud effect created a truly magical atmosphere. It felt like something straight out of a movie.
The combination of the lighting, the music, and the emotion of the moment made for some of my favorite images from the entire day.
#1. Their First Look at Jacob’s Childhood Home
My favorite moment of the day was easily Diana & Jacob’s first look.
Even though they were planning an early church ceremony, they still chose to share a private first look beforehand so they could exchange personal vows together. The moment took place in the backyard of the home where Jacob grew up, making it even more meaningful.
What made it even sweeter was that their bridal party stood nearby, quietly witnessing the moment unfold. Surrounded by the people who love them most, in a place filled with memories, Diana & Jacob shared one of the most heartfelt moments of the entire day.
It was the kind of moment that reminds me why I love photographing weddings.
Diana & Jacob, thank you so much for inviting me to be part of your wedding day. It was truly such an honor to celebrate alongside you, your families, and so many familiar faces. Your day was filled with so much love, joy, and intentionality, and I am so grateful I got to document it all.
