An Associate Wedding by Cassie at Geneva National- Kelsey & Nick

Associates

Kelsey & Nick are officially married! Their wedding day brought us back to Geneva National in beautiful Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, where Cassie and our team spent the day capturing everything from their outdoor ceremony to a packed reception celebration.

There were so many details woven throughout the day, along with a few completely unexpected moments that no one could have planned. When I asked Cassie to look back through Kelsey & Nick’s wedding and share three things that stood out, these were her favorites…

#3. The Light-Up Celebration Signs

Kelsey’s family handmade several light-up marquee signs for the reception, and they were easily one of the most fun details of the night! Each sign had a different message, including “Just Married,” “Cheers to the Bride & Groom,” and “Let’s Party!” with lights around the edges that made them look like miniature marquee boards. They first appeared during the grand entrances and then continued making their way around the dance floor throughout the night. Guests had so much fun passing them around, holding them overhead, and using them to celebrate Kelsey and Nick all evening long!

#2. Thirty Seconds for Ceremony Photos

Kelsey and Nick came up with such a fun way to encourage their guests to be fully present during their ceremony. Before it began, their officiant invited everyone to pull out their phones and gave them 30 seconds to take selfies, photograph the ceremony space, or capture anything else they wanted. Once those 30 seconds were over, the phones were put away for the remainder of the ceremony. Watching everyone laughing, snapping selfies, and squeezing in their photos before time ran out was so much fun. And, it was such a clever, lighthearted way to begin an unplugged ceremony.

#1. The Butterfly in Kelsey’s Veil Photos

While we were photographing Kelsey and Nick on the hill outside Geneva National, my second, Gina, tossed Kelsey’s veil into the air, and what I initially thought was a bird flew right through the frame. We were moving quickly, so it wasn’t until I had a chance to look through the images before the ceremony that I realized it was actually a beautiful monarch butterfly! It flew through at the exact moment Kelsey’s veil was floating behind her, creating something we never could have planned if we tried. It felt like such a special little reminder that someone they love was watching over them that day.

Kelsey & Nick, thank you so much for trusting our team to capture this incredible day for you! It has been such a joy getting to be part of this season with you, and I’m so grateful Cassie and our team could be there to preserve all of these moments.
