You’ve spent months or years dating and you finally have the ring to show the seriousness of your relationship. It’s the real deal! ????
Let’s be honest. One of the best parts of being engaged is showing off your ring and sharing how your fiancé popped the questions. I LOVE hearing these stories! They’re unique, personal and share so much of who you two are as a couple.
Shouldn’t your engagement session be the same way?
Here are three things you can do to help make your engagement session just a little more personal. : )
#1. Pick a location significant to you. While you can always go to a local forest preserve to get engagement photos, (Believe me, I love this AND I know some fantastic locations if you’re feeling stuck!) maybe there is a different location significant to you. Here are some questions to help you start brainstorming…
Bonus: If you’re already sold on your local park, I love it! Think about different things/props you can bring to help make your session more personal. I’ve had couples bring their pets, signs, jerseys, even bikes!
#2. Focus on each other. By focusing on each other, the emotion in your engagement photos runs deeper, your personalities & quirks start to come out and your photos are more personal to you! Don’t worry, we’ll get a mix of romantic, light hearted and traditional shots, but when you focus on each other, you end up with organic moments & emotions. Things that could never be directed your photos will stand out to your friends because they look like you!
#3. Do something you love doing together. If you and your fiancé are really into rock climbing, let’s go there for part of your session! If you love hiking, bring your gear and let’s get creative. Maybe you love cooking together, is there a way you could work that into part of your session?
Thinking through these things may take a little more preparation, but the end result will truly be personal. These will be photos that stand out and shots you’ll cherish for decades to come.
I hope this helped as you begin to plan for your engagement session! Check out this post for tips on how to prep for your engagement session and if you have other questions, let me know. I’m always here to help. : )
