When I think about stunning venues with high ceilings light with lights, open space, and incredible natural light, I think of the Metropolis Ballroom. 🙂

From the very first time I photographed it, I knew there was something special about it. Not only is it beautiful, a photographer’s dream venue, but the team there is also personal, organized, and does a fantastic job taking care of their Brides. Just a few of many reasons I knew the Metropolis Ballroom had to be a part of this venue feature.

Q&A with Rachel at the Metropolis Ballroom

How did you first find the Metropolis Ballroom and what do you love most about it?

I’ve always enjoyed downtown Arlington Heights, it’s absolutely gorgeous! To me, one of the main focal points was the Metropolis Performing Arts because I love the sound of classical music. Though I couldn’t learn how to play, I’ve sort of lived vicariously through musicians and works of musical art.

As the years went on, I supposed the word “Metropolis” was subliminally stuck in my head because when I was looking to further my career, a position for the ballroom opened! It was quite the full circle experience.

My favorite thing about and what makes Metropolis Ballroom unique is its stunning Art Deco design, which has been carefully preserved and restored over the years. The venue boasts of ornate details such as a welcoming entrance, a domed ceiling, and intricate moldings that provide a vintage feel and a touch of glamour to any event held here.

It’s truly a one-of-a-kind venue that combines history, elegance, and modern amenities. Its unique charm and versatility make it an absolute pleasure to work at Metropolis Ballroom!

What part of the wedding process brings you the most joy?

I know this question is subjective but to me, the most joyous part of the wedding process is the actual wedding ceremony, where the couple exchanges their vows and officially become married.

It’s at this moment that the culmination of months of planning with the couple – and maybe for them, even years of planning and anticipation. It’s the most emotional and meaningful moment to experience for the couple, their guests, and even me!

When looking for a wedding venue, what should every Bride know?

There’s a lot that goes into this answer! Mostly because there are several important factors that every bride should keep in mind like:

Capacity: Make sure the venue can accommodate the number of guests you plan to invite. It’s also important to consider the layout and flow of the space to ensure that it will work well for your event!

Location: Think about the accessibility and convenience of the location for your guests. Consider things like parking, public transportation options, and nearby accommodations if some guests will be traveling from out of town.

Availability: Check the venue’s availability for your desired wedding date and time, and be prepared to book well in advance if necessary!

What is the best part of working with the Metropolis Ballroom?

This answer could go on forever but I can sum it up shortly and sweetly:

I get to be a part of someone’s special day! I often feel a sense of satisfaction and pride with helping to make their wedding a success.

I get to work in such a beautiful environment with wonderful people!

I can get creative with problem-solving. Sometimes, life happens. And when or if it does, I’m able to come up with creative solutions to unexpected challenges that arise during an event – and it’s a lot of fun!

The teamwork. Working at a Metropolis Ballroom requires cohesive teamwork and collaboration with other staff members & colleagues to ensure that everything runs smoothly.

Our wedding took place during Covid and the staff was so accommodating to making any arrangements necessary to make sure our wedding happened. The food was also delicious! The Metropolis Ballroom was the perfect venue for our wedding!  We chose this venue because of the beautiful high ceilings, additional lighting details, and the hardwood floors that provided lots of space for dancing.  We loved that cocktail hour had its own dedicated space separate from the ballroom.  The balcony not only served as a great backdrop for pictures, but it was a huge hit with our guests.  We were very pleased with our experience and would recommend the venue to other couples.
