Q&A with Jessica at Meson Sabika

How did you first find Meson Sabika and what do you love most about it?

In 2017 I graduated from North Central College located a few blocks away from Meson Sabika in Naperville, Illinois. It was after I graduated and during my initial job search I started to develop my passion and career within the event and wedding planning field. I spent time helping my dad and his company with local trade shows and started my first event planning position working for a local catering and event organization. It was during this time that I was introduced to wedding and corporate event coordination and in 2021 I applied for what is now my role as Event Coordinator at Meson Sabika.

What I love most about Meson Sabika begins with our owners and staff leadership. They have provided me an opportunity to not only enhance my event planning skills but also provided me an opportunity to assist in the creation of our new venue space by giving me a role in the planning of our partial event space remodel in 2022. We now have a modern space that is a blank canvas for all individuals to create the vision they have in their mind for their wedding / event.

Second, I love our customers/clients. Be it a wedding, a shower or a corporate event our customers trust us in helping create the final vision they have for their event. We develop long lasting relationships with our customers and many times we see them repeatedly come back to celebrate various life events with us.

What part of the wedding process brings you the most joy?

My favorite part about the wedding process is the day of the wedding. I love to see a blank space come alive. From the setup of the table, chairs and linens, the logistic planning with the DJ or band to bring the vibe to life and to the last flower begin placed on the beautiful centerpieces, the day of coordination and creation of a clients special moment is what brings me the most joy. That moment when the couple walks in for the first time and has an opportunity to see their vision come to life truly makes my heart happy.

When looking for a wedding venue, what should every Bride know?

When couples are looking for a wedding venue, it is very important to find a venue that fits their vision and who they are as a couple. Every wedding venue has its own unique style, feel and ambiance. It is important to “go with your gut” and find a venue that has a personal “WOW” factor the moment they walk in the door. It is also very important clients feel comfortable and trust their coordinator. They are the lifeline for the event and are there to support and guide them through the entire process. If a client walks away from an initial meeting with their coordinators and can say “they get IT”, they can be assured they found the right person. This is what we strive for at Meson Sabika.

What is the best part of working with Meson Sabika?

Meson Sabika has become my home away from home (hence it’s a mansion). I could list so many amazing things about working at Meson Sabika but I would say there are 2 things that make working at Meson Sabika enjoyable and fulfilling.

1. We consider ourself family and we all work together to make sure that the guests’ experience is positive and impactful. Everyone from service staff, kitchen staff, our management staff and our ownership team take pride in the success of our events. We laugh together, share life experiences together and celebrate together. When you look forward to waking up and going to work each day, knowing you will make a positive impact on clients and those you work with, you know you have found a great place to work.

2. Our history speaks for itself and I get to enjoy our history every single day I work. Meson Sabika opened its doors in 1990. The tapas style Restaurant is housed in a historic mansion that was built in 1847 and sits on a pristine four-acre estate. The pavilion is a 5,000-square-food event venue, conveniently located adjacent to the Mansion. The Beautiful wedding venue was added to the property in 2007. The Pavilion comes to life with its draped ceiling, vintage chandeliers, and elegant décor. Towering windows overlook the impeccable grounds, invoking the atmosphere of an outdoor reception. May 2022 the Pavilion had an amazing renovation replacing the carpeted floor with new gray modern wood flooring and black cross back chairs to create a Something Old (historic white Mansion) and Something New (modern event space) feel to our weddings. By modernizing the space yet keeping true to the historic atmosphere Meson Sabika gives couples and unique space to bring their wedding vision to life.

I hope you loved this Venue Feature! Meson Sabika is truly one of a kind. 🙂 A gem worth checking out as you start to plan your big day.
