Hurley Gardens- My Favorite Rainy Day Location

What if there is rain in the forecast the day of our engagement session or family session?

This is a question I get asked often and it’s a really good question to ask!

The nice thing about engagement and family sessions is that we have a lot more flexibility than a wedding day. If it ends up raining, I like to re-schedule. I’ll make a point of checking the weather more as we get closer to your session and I try to make the final call 6-12 hours before your session.

I like to wait as long as we can because a lot of times we’ll end up with a window or the weather will clear up. (Plus I know a lot of my couples have often taken off work or done hair and make up trials!)

Engagement Sessions:
When the weather is not cooperating, I like to reschedule because during your engagement session I’ll be teaching you my 4 core poses so you feel confident on your wedding day, so your man is comfortable in front of the camera and so that you have an even better idea of what to expect for your big day. That, and I want to make sure to get you two some really great photos! 😉

However, sometimes we can’t reschedule an engagement or family session. Most often, this is because a couple has flown in from out of state or because we’re coordinating with a lot of people.

When we can’t move the date of a session, I recommend moving the location of the engagement session to Hurley Gardens.

Hurley Gardens is Wheaton’s hidden gem. It has a few beautiful structures the reflect clean natural light and if we get a break in the rain, the gardens are really pretty too. 🙂

Here are just a few of my favorite shots from Hurley Gardens over the years…
