RWP Process: Everything Engagement

For Brides

Welcome back to the RWP Process series! In case you missed it, I shared 23 questions to ask your perspective wedding photographer earlier this year. After creating this post, I realized there was no place for our Watson Brides to find these answers!

With that in mind, we’re breaking it down. One part at a time. : )

Jumping into today’s post…

Is an engagement session included with the Wedding Experience?

In short, yes!

While there are many benefits to doing your engagement session with your wedding photographer, here are the top 3 reasons I always include an engagement session with the Wedding Experience. : )

  • I love getting to meet our couples before their wedding day.
  • I get to share some posing tips & tricks with you so you feel like a pro on your wedding day. ; )
  • We get to capture this unique season of life in a beautiful location.

Meeting YOU Before Your Wedding Day

One of the reasons I like to include a complementary engagement session is because I LOVE to hang out with my couples before their wedding day in person. : )

I love getting to hear more of your story and getting to know you both as a couple. While wedding days are my favorite, days when I get to hang out with my couples and do their engagement session are a close second. We’re people photographers! Anytime we get to hang out with you, the best.

Posing Tips & Tricks

Another reason I always include a complementary engagement session is because it’s a great chance for me to teach you a few posing tips and tricks before your wedding day.

It can feel weird in front of the camera! At least it can feel that way for me.

One of the very first things I’ll do when we start your engagement session is teach you our “4 Core Poses.”

I know… It sounds really stiff and formal, BUT this way you know your hands are in the right spot, your hair looks fabulous and you can truly relax, focus on each other.

It’s how we get those more candid and natural shots! I’ll put you in a pose and it will naturally evolve from there. : )

We may even get into some advanced posing!

Beautiful Images to Remember This Season of Life

Life has so many sweet, sweet season. Each chapter a new adventure. This season of being engaged is short. My hope is to capture this season for you. Who you are today. Your relationship and the love that you share. It’s just going to grow from here. : )

See What Our Watson Brides Are Saying…

“We had such a great time at our engagement session and it really helped to ease our nerves. Rachael taught us all the best poses and made it feel so natural to be in front of the camera. On wedding day, Rachael knew the perfect poses for bride and groom, family, and the bridal party. She made it fun to take photos for hours on end, and the end results are better than anything I could have hoped for. :)”

– Lindsay & Kevin

“She [Rachael] truly got to know us as people which made it a lot more comfortable to work with her and get in front of the camera. My husband is more camera shy than me, and Rachael managed to make him feel comfortable and have natural, genuine smiles both in our engagement session and our wedding day!”

-Katie & Chris

“Her [Rachael’s] photos are absolutely STUNNING. Our engagement session was so easy and we loved every single photo and she set the bar high.”

– Rachel & Luke

From the moment we hired her she was fantastic! Rachael is so personable and makes you feel so comfortable in front of the camera. She made it a point to really get to know us as a couple through the whole process and honestly feels like a friend. Because of how personable she was to everyone on our wedding day, a number of friends in our wedding have decided to work with her. The pictures from our engagement and wedding are beautiful! We could not have asked for anything better.

-Emma & Sean

What if I Live Out of State?

This is a question I get asked often. We actually have A LOT of out of state couples. With that in mind, Monday & Friday engagement sessions are reserved for you! When you know what dates you’ll be home, just let me know and we can get your engagement session on the calendar.

Wrap Up

Getting to capture your wedding and engagement is truly an honor. My hope is that when you’re in the car headed home from your engagement session, you’ll talk about how easy, “posing” in front of the camera was and how much fun you had. : )

Thanks so much for following along. I hope this post was helpful to you! If you have other questions about your engagement session, just let me know! I always love hearing from you. : )

Much Love,
