Cog Hill Golf & Country Club is one of my favorite venues in our area and I think you’ll see why pretty quickly.

What I love most about it is the rich interior that couples can dress up however they would like paired with beautiful greenery near the clubhouse. You just have to take a few steps outside to be surrounded by nature. The perfect backdrop for couples on their wedding day. 🙂

Q&A with Jenny at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club

How did you first find Cog Hill and what do you love most about it?

I started at Cog Hill right out of college, and this is my 9th year.  I always knew I wanted to manage events at an event facility, and I was very excited to find the Cog Hill job posting!  I had worked at an event facility throughout high school and then on my breaks and summers home from college as well.  I started on the wait staff and then eventually did my internship with them during my junior and senior years of college.  I really fell in love with events, so I majored in Hospitality Management with a minor in Business at the University of Illinois.

Once I graduated, Cog Hill fit right in with what I was hoping to find in a career after college.  I really love meeting with the couples/event hosts to give that initial tour of the facility and then help them in the planning process along the way.  I also love that every day is something new and different.  Along with the weddings I, and the other special event managers, are responsible for all events at Cog Hill.  This includes baby and bridal showers, weddings, birthday parties, luncheons, dinners, and over 150 golf outings.  Since we also manage the golf outings, we stay busy Monday – Friday, along with the weekends.  It definitely keeps the job interesting and there’s never a dull moment!

What part of the wedding process brings you the most joy?

I enjoy seeing everyone’s vision come to life in our space.  Even though I have seen hundreds of events hosted at Cog Hill, they are all different.  I love seeing the bride and groom walk in the doors on their wedding day, they realize their thought and vision for their reception has come to life.  We take care of all of the event and décor set up at Cog Hill and manage your event day of.  I love being able to see couples enjoy their day because we are here to take care of the details and make sure everything runs smoothly.  They can truly have fun and spend time with their guests!

When looking for a wedding venue, what should every Bride know?

There are so many options out there when it comes to wedding venues and not every venue is for everyone.  They are all unique in their own way and this day is about the two of you, so make sure you like your venue and what they have to offer.  It’s okay if you do not like every place you go to visit, you need to find what works for you.  While you might value the opinions of your family and friends, in the end, it is your day, so make sure you are happy with your final decision!  There is no right or wrong way to host a wedding, so if there is something that is particularly important to you, make sure your venue can accommodate this ahead of time, so you aren’t disappointed down the road.   Not all venues are created equal, so ask the questions up front.  Make sure you know what your venue does for you, and what you may need to have an outside vendor do.  The more questions you ask up front, the easier and more enjoyable the planning process will be.

What is the best part of working with Cog Hill?

I think the best part for the couple is that we are not only your venue, but we also take on the role of your day of coordinator.  There’s no need to hire an outside day of planner.  You will meet with the special event manager, assigned to your reception, in the months leading up to your reception.  We will work with you to develop your reception timeline, floor plan, we will handle your décor set up, line up and walk off your ceremony, and coordinate with your vendors upon arrival to manage the timeline and ensure your reception runs smoothly.  We try our best to make Cog Hill an all inclusive experience for the couple!
