Fishermen’s Inn is a venue that had been on my “photography bucket list” for years! So you can imagine how excited I was when Megan & Fermin reached out to me about shooting their wedding day. 🙂 Needless to say, Fishermen’s Inn did not disappoint.

I think the two things I loved most about Fishermen’s Inn are, how spacious it was, and how absolutely incredible the grounds are. The grounds truly stand out, especially because of the variety of backdrops Fishermen’s Inn has to offer. A photographer’s dream!

Q&A with Kate at Fishermen’s Inn

How did you first find Fishermen’s Inn and what do you love most about it?

I first found Fishermen’s Inn when I was a newly engaged bride on the search for a wedding venue for myself. My husband and I were the ninth wedding of our friend group that year and we wanted something different, some place unlike any other venue. When we found Fishermen’s Inn, it was under construction, we signed our contract not knowing if this venue would open in time for our wedding, and if it did, what was it going to look like, what was the food going to taste like? The owner Patti gave us a tour of the venue and we fell in love instantly. Her positivity and passion for Fishermen’s Inn is truly what made it stand out. That day we decided that Fishermen’s Inn was the perfect wedding venue for us! I love Fishermen’s Inn so much that after my wedding (almost 9 years ago), I left my teaching career to work here. I want to give other brides the same magical feeling I had on my wedding day.

I love that Fishermen’s Inn is the perfect venue year round. In the spring, summer and fall our gardens and flowers are breathtaking. You are able to have both an outdoor ceremony and an outdoor cocktail hour, but because we live in the midwest, the weather can be unpredictable. Our indoor ceremony location is just as beautiful, in fact, it is my preferred location. In the winter months we have wonderful spots for pictures against our historic barnwood, textured stone or the unique cement silo. Every room you enter is more beautiful than the next. Our venue captures amazing pictures both indoors and out.

What part of the wedding process brings you the most joy?

I love the energy on wedding day! Everyone is smiling and over the moon with excitement – I get to be a part of that, I get to be a part of their best day ever! My favorite wedding day moment is when we fluff the bride’s dress moments before she is about to walk down the aisle. The bride and I lock eyes, usually teary eyes on my part and I get to tell her to walk on down that aisle, to go marry her best friend!

When looking for a wedding venue, what should every Bride know?

My recommendation is to be open to dates. So often we get calls from brides only interested in a specific wedding date, more specifically a certain day of the week. After working at Fishermen’s Inn for almost 9 years I can honestly tell you that it does not matter what day of the week you get married on. Your guests will be there and they will have just as much fun on a Friday or Saturday as they do on a Sunday.

What is the best part of working with Fishermen’s Inn?

The staff, we like to call it the Fishermen’s Inn Family! I can count on every single person here to help. Whether it be help moving a table for set up, help to clean a spill on the dancefloor or helping the Bride and Groom. We want our couples and their families to be able enjoy the wedding day and know that The staff here at Fishermen’s Inn has got you covered. All of us deeply care about the wedding taking place.
